Energy requirements are going to very considerably, but to put it in perspective, a central AC typically has a max SEER rating of about 15. These ductless mini split systems are double that, with a SEER rating of 30, and can use even less energy if you turn them off or reduce their power in rooms you’re not using.
Every system is rated differently, but as long as it’s well maintained, ductless mini split systems are expected to last longer than a traditional central AC unit. While most ACs are rated for 15 or so years, ductless systems are often rated as long as 30 years. The exact length will depend on ongoing maintenance and how close you are to the coast (all ACs struggle with salted air).
